Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support that provides people with disability the help they need to live more independently. SIL is not just about daily assistance — it’s about empowering participants to learn skills, gain confidence, and live a fulfilling life in a home environment.

At 7Days Care WA, we partner with the NDIS to deliver SIL supports tailored to each participant’s unique goals. Whether you’re living in shared accommodation or in your own home, our caring team ensures you receive the right balance of independence and support.

Who is SIL For?

SIL is designed for NDIS participants who have higher or complex support needs and require assistance throughout the day (and often overnight).

You may benefit from SIL if you:

  • Need ongoing support with daily living activities.

  • Want to live more independently but still need regular assistance.

  • Are looking to build new life skills in a supportive home environment.

  • Prefer living with others in shared accommodation or require tailored support in your own home.

What Does SIL Include?

Through SIL, participants receive paid support workers to assist with:

  • Personal care – showering, grooming, dressing, and continence support.

  • Meal preparation – cooking healthy meals, menu planning, and assistance with eating if required.

  • Skill building – learning budgeting, social interaction, travel training, and self-care routines.

  • Medication support – reminders, prompting, or administration depending on your needs.

  • Overnight support – either sleepover or active overnight assistance for safety and wellbeing.

At 7Days Care WA, we focus not only on providing support but also on encouraging independence and helping participants achieve their personal goals.

What SIL Does Not Cover

While SIL provides a wide range of supports, there are some things it does not include. These costs remain the responsibility of the participant:

  • Rent, mortgage, or other accommodation costs.

  • Utilities such as electricity, water, and internet.

  • Groceries, personal expenses, or lifestyle activities not related to support needs.

  • Specialist supports already funded elsewhere in your NDIS plan (e.g., therapy services).

Types of SIL Supports

At 7Days Care WA, we carefully assess each participant’s needs to ensure the right level of SIL support is provided, maximising both independence and safety.

Every participant’s needs are different, so SIL is delivered at varying levels:

Lower Needs

  • Minimal support required.

  • Primarily prompting and check-ins, not continuous assistance.

Standard Needs

  • Regular support during the day.

  • Includes help with personal care, meals, and some overnight supervision.

Higher Needs

  • 24/7 support, including overnight assistance.

  • May involve high-intensity supports for complex medical or behavioural needs.

At 7Days Care WA, we believe everyone deserves a safe and supportive home environment where they can thrive. Our SIL services are designed to help you live independently, build skills, and achieve your goals with the right level of support.
